Turtleneck Hair

Reformation is one of my favorite brands. I openly assert this because I am 100% supportive of their business model. It's not even innovative, it's just that it manages to combine every positive marketing aspect fast fashion can incorporate. Sultry and flowy dresses is their specialty - Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss are often spotted raiding the entire boutique in NYC or L.A., they have gorgeous boho-but-not-over-the-top models pose dynamically, humourous captions, collaborations with top notch bloggers, but most importantly, they are sweatshop free (made in downtown L.A., just like American Apparel) and super environmentally friendly. Besides, their CEO Yaya is practically a model. Don't know what else I can ask for from a retail.

Combined a man-repelling top with a night out asymmetrical skirt and BOOM here is the result.

Inversions

I have been going to two Cegeps simultaneously. Some people might call me crazy, whether it's for the amount of time I spend commuting from one institution to the other or leaving all my friends the last term. They're probably right, but I don't regret it one single bit. Apart from finally getting education in English, I just end up getting the best of both worlds. One peculiar difference I noticed is the different kind of interaction between students and the teacher. French students tend to speak their mind more and develop the subject in every way they can, whereas English students, no matter how much they say, will always say it in a more orthodox and straightforward way, almost rigid. Same goes for the teachers - and the French teachers will ask questions where there is more place to speak your mind. All of this is barely noticeable and very implicit, but as an outsider with a more distant perspective, it is interesting to see how the mentalities and teaching methods differ with the language and the culture revolving around them.

It's been -28 degrees for the pas two weeks now... which means turtleneck weather! Below is a sheer one worn with a sports bra. And no the sheerness doesn't kill its purpose, au contraire, the indoors heating has never been blasting so hard, so as long as I have a warm coat, I can basically wear anything under it. Forget the shorts though. I've been craving some major monochrome since this summer, but now I tend to add a pop of colour or mix in neutrals with it.

Back Business

How to interpret the following outfit: I want to stay young and carefree but I must mature into a woman with a handful of duties. Leather and black edginess on the top toned down with an office appropriate skirt.

Bedtime Stories

Bedtime stories, meaning spending all morning 'til 4 p.m. all cozied up in bed, my fluffy sheltie beside me, holding a fresh cup of coffee between my hands, listening to mellow indie electro playlists on Songza, browsing and writing stories, as the dimmer and dimmer daylight squeezes its way from the semi-opened blinds onto my stone walls. At this point, you could say I'm completely useless to the world, but that's just for a few more days. Then I'll be back fully charged. To study. At two Cegeps simultaneously.

Who wears heels in an alley? I do! Can I also recall that no one poses so sexy in haute couture on public bathroom sinks except for Alexander Wang models. I'm just a tad less provocative.
With the deep plunging hem of this minimalist Japanese couture gem (the cut and design are so on point!), it only felt right to pair it up with the slightly longer silhouette of a midi skirt, its flowiness balanced out with a structured tote. Wearable just about anywhere too.

New Oldies

Happy New Year!!!
Didn't really have any resolutions, because I figured that if I wanted to improve anything, it would be a bit of everything. Sounds lazy at first, but it really just means that I want to improve a whole bunch of aspects. Hehe.
Out of the countless ways seen styling basic jeans and a T-shirt, here is a fresh way. Throw on a cream biker vest and some casual heels. Could work without the lipstick and sneakers for a rather laid back look.

TamTam

No matter how intense your social life is, always remember that Christmas is the time to cozy up with family and relatives and enjoy the simple, traditional life. There are little kids in my family, and they really helped me unleash the inner child in me when I played and teased them. It's still crazy how we were all once so young and carefree. Christmas always reminds me of it through the smell of freshly baked homemade pie, familiar and peaceful carols, and... PRESENTS MUAHAHAHA. I'll never get over the excitement of tearing open my gifts. No one will.
On this chilly evening I remind everyone in their cozy beds, protected from the harsh weather, of beautiful and not too sweaty Sundays in summer, when the eccentric population of Montreal would bring out their tam-tams and gather, dance and soak up some rays. It just makes sense to throw on some lightweight and colouful pieces of clothing.

Autres Lieux

AT LAST IT IS OVER.
Finals are done my friends, and we can all take a moment to breathe, then sleep until the apocalypse.
This is also the last of this series of pictures. From now on, there will be almost only outdoor pictures, which, I think, isn't a bad thing.
This is as far as I go graphic. The only other graphic shirts I have owned are band tees, and now I wear them as loungewear. However, this one particularly caught my eye because the writing is not cliché and OMG-so-deep, it has a sweatshirt-like cut which is very versatile - easily worn with low rise or high rise pants, and finally, it literally spoke to me since I speak French, English and Asian (Chinese, not Japanese sadly). But hey, my parents were living in Japan in 1993. Clearly I relate way too much with this top.
Too bad I lost it.
